About Nick

Portland, Oregon-based songwriter, Nick Gamer, is known for dark, cinematic, Americana ballads which draw inspiration from the varied geography of the Pacific Northwest. The influence of Lucinda Williams and The Byrds’ Sweetheart of the Rodeo, manifests in poetic lyrics that offer emotional complexity as varied as the region’s rugged beauty and as potent as nostalgia that forces a head-on reckoning with the past.

Formerly a guitarist for Japanese Breakfast, Gamer got his start crafting indie pop hooks, but always knew that he wanted to make music that swelled. It’s no surprise that he moved toward the high lonesome wail of the pedal steel with his first solo album, the aptly titled Suburban Cowboy.

Gamer’s second solo effort, Oregoner, is a vivid landscape where dimly lit roadside taverns, honky tonk angels, and ceaseless rainfall loom large. While this album is firmly rooted in the present, it nods to the timeless influences of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, blending contemporary themes with enduring sounds. About Oregoner

Oregoner, Nick’s second album, is forthcoming September 6, 2024 and Gamer celebrates the release by kicking off a west coast tour which begins and ends in Portland, Oregon.

In the same way that a smell or a taste can summon a swell of nostalgia, Oregoner captures the aura of a particular period of time, calling up long, undistracted drives along craggy coastlines through unyielding mountains while weathering the unpredictable pacific northwest climate. Oregonor is strong enough to help you bear the brunt of a breakup, soft enough to be there when you fall in love and, is absolutely an album you can get behind the wheel with.
